Diesel Price Drops 6¢ to $3.579 a Gallon

Decline Comes After Three Consecutive Increases

The national average diesel price reversed course and dropped 6 cents a gallon to $3.579, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released April 15.

Diesel’s price had risen 9 cents a gallon in three consecutive increases beginning the week of March 17.

A gallon of trucking’s main fuel now costs 43.6 cents less than it did at this time in 2024.

Regional Trends

Diesel’s average price fell in all five PADD districts, with the biggest being 7.1 cents a gallon in the Gulf Coast region. The Midwest saw prices slide 6.9 cents, and the Lower Atlantic East Coast subregion dropped 6.4 cents.

Gasoline Update

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline shed 7.5 cents to land at $3.168 a gallon. That’s 46 cents less than it cost at this time a year ago.
