Diesel Price Nudges Up 2¢ to $3.697 a Gallon

The national average diesel price nudged up 2 cents to $3.697 a gallon, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released Feb. 24.

Trucking’s main fuel has increased in price four consecutive weeks, but the cumulative gain has been just 3.8 cents.

The last time diesel fuel showed a decrease was the week of Jan. 27, when it slipped 5.6 cents.

Regional Trends

The national average price for a gallon of diesel increased in four of EIA’s five PADD districts, with the steepest rise being 4.2 cents along the West Coast. The biggest dip was 1.5 cents in the Rocky Mountain area.

Other notable price swings include a 4.5-cent increase in the West Coast less California and a 1.8-cent decline in the Central Atlantic subregion.
