International Unveils Battery-Electric Regional-Haul Tractor

International Motors Co. launched a Class 8 battery-electric regional-haul tractor, the eRH Series.
Targeted at regional and drayage fleets, the eRH is available in 4Ă—2 and 6Ă—4 axle configurations, and International said it offers a range of up to 300 miles, depending on configuration, battery capacity and use.
The eRH has a lithium nickel manganese cobalt battery. Configuration options range from 300 kilowatt hours to 500 kWh of battery capacity.

“We are excited to add the eRH to serve International’s Class 8 battery-electric customers,” said , senior vice president, sales and field operations. “This new solution perfectly complements our current battery-electric vehicle lineup and underscores our commitment to innovation.”
The eRH joins the eMV medium-duty truck as part of International’s battery-electric truck lineup.
International’s IC Bus unit offers an Electric CE Series school bus. IC Bus launched serial production of the redesigned CE Series in 2024.
Also in 2024, International launched a redesign of its HV Series Class 8 vocational trucks.
Series production of the overhauled HV 509, HV 515, HV 609 and HV 615 models — which come equipped with the company’s S13 integrated powertrain and T14 automated manual transmission — is due to start in June.

Series production of the eRH — based on the diesel-powered RH Series platform — will start in the first half of 2026.
“We’ve invested heavily in infrastructure, operations and training to ensure we are ready to adopt battery-electric vehicles as they become available,” said Paul Rosa, Penske Truck Leasing senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning. “We are excited to be among the first to demonstrate the capabilities of the eRH.”
Penske operates more than 448,000 vehicles. The company took delivery of its first battery-electric Class 8 tractor in 2019.
