A massive spruce tree that came to life in an Alaskan forest during former President Ronald Reagan’s White House days has arrived on a new flatbed trailer after a 4,293-mile journey to Washington, accompanied by two veteran truck drivers from Lynden Transport.

Lynden Transport will carry the Capitol Christmas Tree from Alaska to the nation’s capital later this year.

Photos: The 2021 Capitol Christmas Tree began its journey in California on Oct. 23, in the Mad River Ranger District of the Six Rivers National Forest. It was driven cross-country by the official designated tour carrier, System Transport, a division of Trans-System Inc. and arrived in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 19.

WASHINGTON — A truckload of holiday cheer has appeared at the U.S. Capitol Building with the arrival of an 84-foot white fir, made possible by committed industry partnerships.

System Transport, the flatbed division of Trans-System Inc., was selected to transport the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree for 2021, the company announced.

Apex Transportation, founded in 1996 and based in Henderson, Colo., was chosen to haul this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree from Colorado to Washington, D.C.

A new Kenworth W990 has the honor of hauling the 54th U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. The approximately 3,000-mile journey to Washington will start Nov. 9.

When the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree arrives in Washington from the Willamette National Forest in Oregon, it will have taken a nearly 2,800-mile journey from the Pacific Northwest to the Eastern Seaboard on a new Kenworth W990 truck, delivered by Central Oregon Truck Co.
