The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s 2020 Operation Safe Driver Week will go on as scheduled July 12-18, the trade association representing roadside inspectors announced May 12.

This year’s International Roadcheck, originally set for May 5-7, has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

The high-volume, high-visibility International Roadcheck event will take place May 5-7, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance announced Jan. 27.

Commercial vehicle inspectors conducted more than 67,000 inspections during a stepped-up three-day enforcement effort in June, putting 12,019 commercial vehicles and 2,784 drivers out of service.

Roadside inspectors will be conducting inspections with a special emphasis on brakes Sept. 15-22, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance announced.

Steering and suspension systems will be the focus of the annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance International Roadcheck event June 4-6.

For years, truckers have been complaining that inspectors do not always submit reports to federal regulators giving them credit for no violations or “clean” roadside inspections.

U.S. truck and bus safety inspections surged in early June, coinciding with International Roadcheck, the safety campaign by North American law enforcement departments.
