Growth at U.S. factories held in June near the fastest pace of the year, a sign that manufacturing helped boost the economy in the second quarter.

Manufacturing activity in the Philadelphia Region expanded in June, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia said June 19.

The Institute for Supply Management said its May manufacturing index improved to 55.4 from 54.9 a month earlier, the Tempe, Arizona-based group said in a second correction on the data.
